Port Vale midfielder Doug Loft says the Valiants have "turned the corner" after a poor start to new manager Jim Gannon's reign.

Vale were winless in Gannon's first five games but have since beaten Rotherham and drawn with Wycombe.

"I feel like we've turned the corner now and we're kicking on from that," Loft, 24, told BBC Radio Stoke.

"We all just want the same thing for the club and that's to get promotion at the end of the season."

Vale have fallen out of the League Two promotion places since former Micky Adams' departure for Sheffield United to currently lie fifth, three points behind third-placed Rotherham.

Of their 18 remaining league matches this season, 11 are to be played at Vale Park.

"There's a lot of tough games in this league and we've got many more to come but the gaffer's shown he's bringing a sharpness to the squad," said Loft.

"We've got the best fans in the league and they'll get behind us in every game.

"When we bring teams to Vale Park we need to make it a fortress."
