Port Vale set for North American tour

Port Vale

Port Vale have confirmed the first-team squad will embark on a North American tour in July.

The club's first trip across the Atlantic will form part of their pre-season ahead of the 2011/12 campaign.

Valiants chairman Bill Bratt told BBC Radio Stoke: "We're flying over around July 12th for 14 days and five games have been arranged.

"This will be a very good chance for us to build up some good relationships over there."

Bratt revealed that the facilities available had convinced him to pursue the tour, and that arrangements would be made for fans to travel out to support the team.

"The schedule will be sent to us nearer the date but they are good quality teams," he added.

"The facilities are going to be top-class and the accommodation top-class.

"We're talking to our travel partners to see if we can get travel on for the supporters.

"I'm sure quite a few will want to go out there at that particular time, so we're looking to do that and that will be announced in the new year."
