Port Vale skipper Tommy Fraser has praised the players for their attitude to training in the freezing weather.

The players have had to endure endless running around the terraces and concourses of Vale Park due to the lack of the indoor facilities.

Fraser told BBC Radio Stoke: "When you come into training and see the snow you think 'Oh no'.

"But the manager knows that there are 20 players here that will give him 100%. We've got a die-hard spirit."

Fraser joined Vale in the summer of 2009 and was immediately handed the captain's armband, but he insists the role is made easier because of the harmony in the squad.

"We've got a good group of lads and you don't often get that in football clubs and I can honestly say that everyone gets on with each other."

The Port Vale captain also acknowledged the influence that defender Lee Collins has had on the team despite his absence from the last five games with shin splints.

"When you've got Lee Collins out on the pitch before a game it gives the players an extra five or 10% and it's that inspiration that can be the difference between winning and losing. We're lucky to have players like that," Fraser said.

The Valiants are currently top of League Two, but Fraser insists promotion is not even being talked discussed.

"We haven't even thought about it, we don't say the 'P' word round here.

"We're top of the league and that's great and it means we're the best team in the division at the moment, but it doesn't mean anything if we're not top of the league at the end of the season."
