Port Vale's Anthony Griffith targets elusive first goal
Anthony Griffith signed a new two-year contract at Port Vale in May
Port Vale's defensive midfielder Anthony Griffith is hopeful of adding more goals to his game next season.
Griffith, 23, has not found the net in 90 appearances for the club since arriving at Vale Park in May 2008.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm going to work hard to pop up with the odd goal, I'd definitely like to score goals.
"You've got to have the belief and I had the belief to go out there and work on my passing every afternoon, so I'm going to do the same to score goals."
Griffith was one of Vale's stand-out performers last season, picking up the player of the year award after a series of impressive performances.
The Yorkshire-born midfielder has scored four times in 162 appearances during his career so far, all of those goals coming in a loan spell with non-league Halifax in 2007/08.
Griffith was one of several players to commit their future to Vale at the end of the campaign, signing a new two-year contract in May.
