Port Vale's Rob Taylor told to prove his quality

Port Vale manager Micky Adams has told midfielder Rob Taylor to believe in his own ability to become a better player.

Taylor's looping volley proved to be the winner in Vale's 2-1 victory over Bradford at Vale Park on Tuesday.

"We can all see that he has that quality in him, but the thing about Rob is that he doesn't realise what he's got," Adams told BBC Radio Stoke.

"When it clicks that he's got pace, a bit of trickery and can score goals, he'll be a player."

Marc Richards also ended his month-long goal drought with the equaliser against the Bantams, after Robbie Threlfall had given the visitors an early lead.

Adams added: "Marc doesn't hide, he keeps going. [Assistant manager] Geoff Horsfield was emphasising at half-time that it would come, as long as he got in the right areas."

The victory moved Vale up to 11th in League Two, six points away from the play-offs, and with an away game at promotion-chasing Chesterfield to come on Saturday.
