Port Vale manager Micky Adams sets victories target
Vale boss Micky Adams described the 2-1 victory at Torquay as "an ugly win"
Manager Micky Adams believes Port Vale need 11 victories from their remaining 17 league matches if they are to reach the play-offs this season.
Adams watched his team beat Torquay United 2-1 on Saturday and told BBC Radio Stoke: "We're only 11 away now.
"Somebody, somewhere will come out of the pack and get enough wins to make a late push for the play-offs.
"I'm not saying we're going to do that, but we're going to have a go. We need wins rather than draws and defeats."
Goals from Lewis Haldane and Marc Richards were enough for victory, although Adams admitted he was not pleased with his team's display.
"It was an ugly win," said Adams. "In terms of performances, you've got to feel slightly disappointed with it, but we've picked up three valuable points.
"We had to grind it out, we went in 1-0 up but we didn't show enough sharpness and our better players were all at the back.
"But after the disappointment of the second half against Chesterfield we've ground out a result when perhaps we didn't deserve it."
Victory at Plainmoor was Vale's fifth away from home in League Two this season and lifted them to within six points of seventh-placed Notts County.
