Port Vale forward Lewis Haldane says he was disappointed to be sent off in the Valiants' 2-0 win over Hereford.
The 24-year-old saw his second yellow on 40 minutes after being booked for diving and then clashing with Hereford midfielder Marc Pugh.
"I just thought it was handbags, so I'm really disappointed," Haldane told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I've just tried get the ball off him, put my hands on him, and the referee's thought that's a sending-off."
Haldane was playing in his first game since signing a permanent deal with Vale following a spell on loan from Bristol Rovers.
"I'm more disappointed that I've left the lads in the lurch," continued Haldane.
"They had to play with 10 men in the second half but they dug in really well, got the three points and let me off the hook."
Haldane, who had never previously been sent off, will now miss the League Two game at Burton Albion on Saturday.
Vale manager Micky Adams added: "I think it was a sending-off that could have been avoided.
"I thought the first booking was a penalty and for the second one, the ball's gone out of play and he's trying to get it back in play.
"I've said to him that, in his enthusiasm, he's managed to get himself sent off and put us in a little spot of bother."
