Taylor joined Vale on a short-term deal at the start of the season
Defender Kris Taylor is determined to earn a long-term contract with League Two side Port Vale after impressing during his time at Vale Park.
The left-back was signed on a short-term deal by manager Micky Adams following his release by Hereford.
Taylor told BBC Radio Stoke: "There are lots of players that I know that are out there without teams.
"I know I'm good enough to play at this level, and it's a case of proving that I deserve to be here at Port Vale."
The former Walsall trainee added: "I found it much more difficult being without a club. You think 'I've played a lot of games, I'll be alright', but it's very difficult.
"I'm enjoying it here, it's a massive club and when you get a lot of support you always enjoy it.
"It's just a case of going out and trying to perform the best that you can."
Taylor has started all five of Vale's games so far this season and is expected to fight off competition from new loan signing Damien McCrory to keep his place in the starting line-up.
