Adams spent five years as a player at Southampton between 1989 and 1994
Micky Adams has dismissed speculation linking him with the vacant managerial position at Southampton.
The Port Vale boss, 47, spent five seasons with the Saints as a player between 1989 and 1994.
But Adams told BBC Radio Stoke he is not interested in replacing Mark Wotte, who left St Mary's on Thursday.
"It's a club that I know well and it's a club that's in my system, but I agreed to be manager of Port Vale and that's what I'll do," said Adams.
"Maybe after they find out that we've lost 1-0 at Biddulph [in a pre-season friendly on Saturday], my odds will lengthen a bit."
Adams is yet to sign a managerial contract at Vale Park, but has said that will not distract him as he prepares for the start of the League Two season on 8 August.
"It's there, it's been offered and it's been agreed," he added.
Vale are back in action on Tuesday, 14 July, in a friendly match against AFC Telford at Bucks Head.
