Rob Taylor is hoping his goal for Port Vale against Darlington has given his manager a selection headache ahead of Tuesday night's trip to Accrington.
Taylor, who signed from non-league Nuneaton, made his first league start since the opening day of the season.
And he told BBC Radio Stoke: "There's competition in our squad and everyone in the squad wants to play.
"I'm sure the manager would rather have that than having one player in each position to choose from."
Taylor was brought to the club by previous manager Lee Sinnott in the summer of 2008 following Vale's relegation to League Two.
But despite making a stunning impact by scoring on his debut at Luton, he found himself on the fringes of the first team.

"Maybe I was thrown in a little bit too early," he admitted. "But I feel I've improved a lot in terms of ability, fitness and tactically.
"It's been frustrating but it's just one of those things.
"You keep positive, keep smiling, wait for your opportunity, and now I've got it."
Vale won at home for only the second time in 2009 by beating Darlington 3-1, with the goals coming from Taylor, Louis Dodds and Marc Richards.
