Tudor gives frank warning to Vale

Former Port Vale winger Shane Tudor says radical changes on and off the pitch are needed to take it forward.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm not there any more so I can be honest, the current squad isn't good enough.

"I'd love to be proved wrong, but Dean Glover has got a hard job there and hopefully he can turn things around."

"Somebody needs to bring stability to the club, and it needs to be done sooner rather than later," the 26-year-old added.

Tudor retired from football last month after failing to recover from a persistent knee injury.

The former Cambridge and Leyton Orient player thinks Vale could survive as a Championship club, but they are not fulfilling their potential.

"I firmly believe that Port Vale has got the potential to be a big club, we're playing in front of 6,000 or so at the moment but it could easily be 15,000," he said.

"Everybody needs to join together as one big community, rather than people always taking a negative view of things."

Vale have failed in their bid for promotion from League Two at the first attempt, as they lie 15 points away from the play-offs with 18 games to play.

But Tudor thinks that some of Vale's problems lie off the pitch, and that could be affecting performances.

"If the current board are going to take the club forward over the next five years, then great," Tudor said.

"But if not, they need to find a buyer and find someone who will look to take this club into the Championship."
