Plymouth Argyle's players have received a second loan from the Professional Footballers' Association.

The PFA paid part of the players' November wages and has now contributed more money to the cash-strapped club.

Plymouth's PFA representative Romain Larrieu told BBC Spotlight: "The PFA have stepped in earlier this season and again this week to help us out.

"It's brilliant for the boys because it's been a long time now since we've been paid."

He continued: "Everybody needs to get paid for whatever they are doing, but when you step on the pitch on a Saturday it's not really playing on people's minds."

Plymouth Argyle are currently bottom of League One, having been deducted 10 points last week for issuing a 'notice of intention' to appoint an administrator, an act classed as an insolvency event under Football League rules.

Larrieu, who is the Pilgrims' longest serving player added: "It's the most difficult time I've known at the club.

"We need to stay together to get the club out of it and as long as we can do that I do believe there is light at the end of the tunnel."

The veteran goalkeeper was recalled to Argyle's starting XI for last Saturday's clash with Colchester at Home Park , the match ending 2-1 in the Devon club's favour.

Larrieu said: "We've got a great chance to stay up - everybody believes that in the dressing room.

"On Saturday we proved that there is a lot of character left at the club and we need that now more than ever.

"There is still life in us as we've shown and it would be such a great escape if we stay up in two months time.

"We can make a name for ourselves, we've got two months to do it and I am positive that we can."
