Ten-man Plymouth ended a difficult week with a battling win over Colchester.
The cash-strapped Pilgrims started positively with Rory Fallon opening the scoring with a close-range finish.
Colchester levelled just before half-time through a defensive mix-up that saw Stephane Zubar score an own goal from a Nathan Clarke long throw.
Argyle had Chris Clark sent off for fouling Ian Henderson but won the game through Yannick Bolasie's penalty after Joe Mason was fouled by Clarke.
Plymouth Argyle manager Peter Reid told BBC Devon: "It was a great response from everyone concerned and the Argyle fans were absolutely magnificent.
"That was a perfect response from the players and even with 10 men I thought they showed a lot of character.
"We played some really good stuff, we knocked it about, showed plenty of character and defended fantastically well."
Colchester United manager John Ward told BBC Essex: "It's disappointing on two accounts; the first is again we haven't converted our chances we had during the game.
"And then we've been undone by a pretty poor penalty decision.
"I'm not one to blame referees but I have seen it again three times and it confirmed what I thought at the time."
