Sturrock was pleased with Plymouth's grit and determination
Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock hailed his side's "steel" after their second win in four days.
The Pilgrims ran out 2-1 winners over Watford at Home Park on Tuesday, adding to their victory at Wolves on Saturday.
Sturrock told BBC Radio Devon: "The players have shown that steeliness they had earlier in the season.
"We're going to have to dig deep right until the end. We're in the 40s (points) now and we've got get into the 50s as quickly as possible."
Tuesday's win over Watford was not all plain sailing. After taking a first-half lead through Paul Gallagher's penalty, the Pilgrims conceded a 59th minute equaliser to Tommy Smith as Watford re-grouped.
But Sturrock was "delighted" by the way his team bounced back to win the game through Gallagher's second goal of the game and stay five points above the relegation zone.
"I am delighted that we came back after they pegged us back. It showed a bit of grit and determination that's been missing from us," said Sturrock.
"The team responded to their win on Saturday, which was the pleasing thing."
The contribution of loan players has been significant in Argyle's revival, with Blackburn's Gallagher netting all three goals in their back-to-back wins.
And Sturrock paid tribute to the other players he has brought in on loan.
"If you look at Alan Judge, David Gray, Craig Cathcart, they are all in there. They're all giving their lot because they're professional men," he said.
Sturrock also praised Argyle's supporters for the vital part they played in the win over the Hornets on a filthy night in the South West.
"The crowd has been fantastic the last three games and then tonight they were right behind the team again, and at this minute in time they're the 12th man," he added.
