Peterborough's Gabriel Zakuani has played down Gary Johnson's comments after Saturday's 2-1 loss at Brentford.
The Posh boss said he was "not sure" if he could improve United's record of four defeats in seven away games this season with his current squad.
But defender Zakuani told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "You go through a lot of different emotions after games.
"It was maybe just one of those things where the manager was disappointed because he expected a better display."
Despite their struggles on the road, Posh lie third in League One, level on points with second-placed Bournemouth.
"You look at the league and we're joint second on points so it's definitely a good start and we're not far off where we want to be," added Zakuani.

The 24-year-old, who moved to London Road from Fulham in January 2009, missed most of last season with a groin injury.
He underwent surgery over the summer and has started Posh's last nine games alongside Kelvin Langmead in the centre of defence.
Zakuani continued: "I've never felt fitter, I feel sharper than I've done before, but I did a lot of work during the time I was out injured."
