Lewis was an ever present in Peterborough's promotion campaign
Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis believes he is ready for the challenge of Championship football after spending time with the England Under-21 squad.
The 21-year-old is competing in the European Championships and expects to see his team-mates again this season.
The former Norwich man told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'll be playing against a few of them next year.
"We're all in the same league by right - us, Newcastle, Middlesbrough. We can't be over awed by teams like that."
Lewis played 45 minutes for Stuart Pearce's side in the final group game against Germany on Monday but is well aware that Joe Hart has a firm grip on the number one shirt.
"I give him 100% backing in training and just be ready in case anything does happen," he said.
"If he gets booked or sent off or injured, I wouldn't wish that on him, but I've got to make sure that I'll come in and do a job."
England face hosts Sweden in the semi-finals on Friday and Lewis is confident the squad has the quality to go all the way.
"We've got one or two little geniuses in our team. With one moment of magic they can pull something from nowhere. In tight games a little bit of magic like that is going to be key in the tournament," he said.
