Morgan doubt for Posh and Wales

Ferguson's side have won their last four league games

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson says defender Craig Morgan will not play for Wales next week if he is not 100% fit.

The 23-year-old is hoping to recover from a toe injury for Posh's trip to Bristol Rovers this weekend.

And Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "If he doesn't play for us Saturday he won't be going to Wales.

"We'd like their doctor to assess it and hopefully common sense will prevail because he's done nothing for weeks."

Wales are facing Finland in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday 27 March, the same day Posh are due to face Leicester City in a top-of-the-table clash.

If Morgan misses the Bristol tie Ferguson will have to choose between Chris Westwood and Shane Blackett to partner the impressive Charlie Lee at centre-back.

The Posh boss has reserved special praise for the former Millwall man as his side battle it out with MK Dons for the second automatic promotion place.

"I think he's been absolutely outstanding no matter where he's played," he said.

"One thing we have nailed down is he's a better defender than a midfielder, he knows that himself.

"He is outstanding at left-back, outstanding at centre-back and he can play right-back too," he added.

Meanwhile Ferguson has confirmed that goalkeeper Joe Lewis will not miss the Leicester game after being told by Stuart Pearce that he will not require him for England Under-21s' friendly with Norway.
