Crofts keen to extend Posh stay

Crofts has made seven appearances for Posh since arriving on loan

Midfielder Andrew Crofts says he is keen to stay with Peterborough United once his loan from Gillingham expires at the end of January.

The 24-year-old has made seven appearances for Posh since moving to London Road in November.

Crofts told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Hopefully we can sort out a permanent deal, the indications are good.

"Since I've been here I've really enjoyed it, the club is going places and I want to be part of it."

Crofts had fallen out of favour at League Two Gillingham, but has excelled playing just in front of the defence at Posh.

Peterborough will not have to pay a fee if they choose to sign Crofts permanently.

Manager Darren Ferguson has made a point of underlining his side's excellent team spirit in recent weeks.

Crofts, who is a Welsh international, says London Road is a great place to be playing football.

"All the lads are different gear, we were playing a game in the corridor and the skipper [Russell Martin] lost it," he said.

"He's just had his ears flicked by about 12 of the lads so they're a bit red at the moment, but the lads are brilliant and it's great to be a part of it."

Meanwhile, Ferguson has revealed that Posh came close to signing West Ham youngster Jack Collison earlier this season.

The 20-year-old was with Posh as youngster, but moved on to Cambridge United and then West Ham.
