Cambridge United boss Gary Brabin believes his side's 5-0 FA Trophy defeat to Crawley will prove to be a turning point in their season.
The U's bounced back from that humiliation with a 4-1 win over Woking in the Blue Square Premier on Saturday.
Brabin told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Hopefully at the end of the season we'll all be delighted because we've won promotion.
"And we'll be looking back on the Crawley game as a turning point."
The Trophy defeat to Crawley lead Brabin to plead with the board for extra transfer resources.
The U's directors backed their manager by renegotiating a loan deal for Peterborough United striker Scott Rendell.
Cambridge travel to fellow promotion rivals Wrexham in the league on Thursday, where Brabin is hoping to make further progress.
"We all want to same thing, we all want to do well, we all want promotion," he said.
"We can't allow one performance or result to dictate the mood."
Rendell looks set to go straight back into the starting line-up at Wrexham following his return from Peterborough.
Paul Carden and Anthony Tonkin are doubts, but Dan Gleeson and Jon Challinor both return from suspension.
