Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has revealed the club are close to signing a top level striker in the January transfer window.
Posh have made deals for two Premier League and one Championship player.
Fry told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I've agreed everything with the clubs concerned, but the problem is with the players who aren't keen to drop down.
"We've started negotiations with two or three so if plan A doesn't come off we've still got plans B and C."
Manager Darren Ferguson has made clear his desire to sign a target man to compliment Aaron Mclean and Craig Mackail-Smith.

Fry says the club will continue their policy of signing young, raw talent.
"The club is very much youngster orientated, we're absolutely delighted with the investment we have made in young players," Fry added.
"Having said that, the players we're after are house-hold names and certainly our support will know everything about them."
Fry has also warned Cambridge United that they may struggle to agree a permanent deal for Scott Rendell.
Rendell, 22, is on loan at the Abbey until January.
Fry told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We are prepared to do a deal with anybody, but we won't be losing money on what we signed him for that's for sure.
"We've already had bids for Scott from two League clubs and I've informed Cambridge of that."
