Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has confirmed the club will not be signing Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson.
Gibson, 21, came close to joining Posh on a season-long loan over the summer.
Fry told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We thought about signing Darron Gibson on loan, but we've got our own players with marvellous potential."
However, Posh have agreed a deal with Fulham to sign loanee Gabby Zakuani in January if the player agrees terms.
Zakuani has been a virtual ever-present for Posh since arriving at London Road in September.

"I've done a deal with Fulham; [Peterborough boss] Darren [Ferguson] has just got to convince the player to come here," Fry said.
"Nothing will happen until January, but obviously we want to know where we are with the deal."
Posh will pay a fee for the player, but it will not exceed the club record transfer of Joe Lewis last January.
