Peterborough United defender Craig Morgan is looking forward to leading his side out this season, starting with Saturday's game against Southend.
The Welsh international has replaced Micah Hyde as team captain for the club's League One campaign.
The 23-year-old told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'm wearing the armband on the pitch but there are plenty of leaders out there.
"I'm looking forward to it and everyone at the club is excited by this season."
Morgan insisted his relationship with his team-mates would not change with his new position.
"I think it'll be the same as last year," he said. "You want to play well every week and you hope that everyone looks at you and thinks 'he's doing well, can I do the same?'."
Expectations are high at London Road and Morgan shares the view of his manager Darren Ferguson that promotion is the goal this year.
He said: "We got wins under our belt last year and we want it to be a knock-on effect.
"We want people to be fearing coming here and we want to be going up automatically."
