Peterborough United defender Craig Morgan is confident his team can make an impact in their first season in League One if they are promoted.

If Posh beat Hereford on Saturday, they will secure automatic promotion.

The 22-year-old told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I think with the squad we've got, as a team we're hopefully going to take that league by storm.

"There are some very hard places to go but we're confident we can make an impact on the league above."

Posh missed the chance to celebrate promotion in front of their home fans when they were beaten last weekend by fourth-placed Stockport at London Road, bringing to an end a 17-match unbeaten league run.

The club's becoming a massive club and we want to take it as far as we possibly can

Morgan said: "In the circumstances it wasn't nice to lose but it was a great run.

"We've bounced back in the past and we will again so we'll see how results go this week."

Saturday's 1-0 defeat marked the first time Posh have been beaten when Morgan and fellow defender Chris Westwood played a full match together.

"We're both disappointed to have lost on Saturday," said Morgan. "But we have to acknowledge what a great run it was."

Posh trail leaders MK Dons by four points with just three matches to go but Morgan insists the championship is still open.

"The title would be great but, as long as we achieve promotion, I think the season has been a great success and we can hopefully kick on next year.

"The club's becoming a massive club and we want to take it as far as we possibly can."
