Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has confirmed the club intend to sign Wrexham's Wales international midfielder Mark Jones.
"He'll sign a contract on 1 July. He's got to come down and have a medical, but they're normally formalities," Fry told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
The 23-year-old was released by Wrexham following their relegation to the Blue Square Premier.
Jones played alongside Posh boss Darren Ferguson at Wrexham.
He joined Wrexham as a trainee and broke into the first team back in 2004.
During the 2005-2006 Jones scored 15 goals from midfield, but has struggled with injury over the last two seasons, making only 16 appearances in the last campaign as Wrexham were relegated from League Two.
"Two or three years ago he had a sensational season...since then he's been riddled with injuries and has hardly played," Fry said.
"The Gaffer feels he that has got tremendous ability and is going to give him the chance to fulfil it."
Jones has two international caps to his name, and was named in John Toshack's most recent Wales squad alongside Posh defender Craig Morgan.
He will become the second summer arrival at London Road with Russell Martin already having joined from Wycombe.
