Oxford United have made their eighth summer signing by recruiting Mitchell Cole from Stevenage.
Cole, 24, who played 90 games for the Blue Square Premier champions, told BBC Oxford: "This club is on the way up.
"It's got a great stadium, great pitch, great fans, and from what I've seen, a great team."
Cole is a product of the West Ham youth system, joining Southend in 2005. He also had a loan spell at Northampton before joining Stevenage in 2007.
He dismissed suggestions that injuries have hampered his career.
"I am not too sure where the injury-prone tag I have got has come from, but it is there and I have got to shake it off, " he said.
"I played 50-odd games the season before last, and 40-odd the season just gone.
"I just look forward to the first game of the season."
