Influential midfielder Adam Murray will retain the captain's armband at Oxford United this season.
Murray skippered the team during a successful end to the last campaign under manager Chris Wilder.
The U's boss says regardless of who is captain, he expects leadership from all of the members of his squad.
"We have people who have been captains at clubs before, we're expecting those players to do what they have done in the past." Wilder told BBC Oxford.
He added: "We are expecting the younger players to take responsibility as well. That's part of their development and them improving as players."
Adam Murray and fellow U's midfielder Adam Chapman will be studio guests on BBC Oxford's breakfast show on Friday with Malcolm Boyden.
