Fixture issues unavoidable - Lee

Blue Square Premier

Football Conference chairman Brian Lee said they were unable to avoid giving 10 clubs, including Oxford United, a blank Saturday in the fixture list.

Teams have been told that in the schedule, which was produced by hand, it has not been possible to arrange games for every club on every weekend.

"No club wants to be without it [a game on a Saturday] but that is how it has turned out," Lee told BBC Oxford.

"It happens to somebody most seasons so it is not unusual."

He added: "The fixtures have been compiled and it has tried to be avoided."

Oxford United are without a game on Saturday 6 March 2010.
