Matt Day has made 10 appearances for Oxford this season

Oxford defender Matt Day has said United's defence must improve if they are to get their season back on track.

The U's earned their third clean sheet of the season in Tuesday's 1-0 win over Kidderminster, a result that leaves them 14th in the Blue Square Premier.

Day told BBC Oxford: "If you look at our defensive record we have conceded a lot of goals this season compared to previous years.

"If you can keep a clean sheet and nick a goal like we did it helps."
