Oxford eased the pressure on manager Darren Patterson as James Constable's first-half penalty secured a narrow victory over Kidderminster.
Patterson has admitted his side are in a relegation battle, but Constable's strike earned a vital three points.
The on-loan striker was hauled down by Mark Creighton before stepping up to coolly covert the spot-kick.
The visitors never really threatened and were restricted to a few speculative efforts from Russell Penn.
