Patterson is allowed to use two more emergency loans

Oxford United manager Darren Patterson says two Rushden & Diamonds players are among his targets as he looks to add to his squad using loan signings.

Phil Gulliver, Andy Burgess, Leon Knight, Lee Philips, Lee Tomlin and Curtis Woodhouse have all had their names circulated by the Diamonds.

Patterson is considering signing two of them but says he has other options.

He said: "Two players there definitely interest me, but there are other players at lots of other clubs."

The U's boss hopes to make the most of the loan system this season.

"The loan system is something you have to be careful of," Patterson explained. "People are negative towards it but Hereford played it fantastically well, and it got them promotion last season."
