Young Oxford United striker Alex Fisher says he will be ready to take his opportunity, if called upon by manager Darren Patterson this season.

The 19-year-old may come into the reckoning for a place in the squad on Friday against Barrow, after an injury to team-mate Jamie Guy.

Fisher told BBC Oxford he is keen for as many first-team games as possible.

"I see this season as more of a transition. I want to put my foot in the door and get more run-outs."

He added: "Who knows what could happen, a couple of injuries and I could get a chance."
