Oldham Athletic sign Cedric Evina on loan from Arsenal

Oldham Athletic

Oldham Athletic have signed Arsenal utility player Cedric Evina on an initial one-month loan deal.

The 18-year-old, who was born in Cameroon and spent time in France before moving to England aged nine, can play at left-back and left midfield.

Manger Paul Dickov told the club website: "I have seen Cedric play and I am sure he will bring a lot of quality.

"Hopefully he will be a good acquisition and I would like to thank Arsenal for allowing him to join us."

Evina was Arsenal's youth team captain last season and won the FA Youth Cup in 2009 in a team that included Jack Wilshere.

On the move to Boundary Park, Evina said: "It is important for me to get some proper first-team football.

"It will be tough breaking into the side at Arsenal where there is competition at left back from Gael Clichy, Kieran Gibbs, Armand Traore, Thomas Cruise and myself."
