Warren Feeney and Reuben Hazell set for Oldham opener

Rob Purdie

Oldham Athletic have received a boost ahead of the new season as Warren Feeney and Reuben Hazell look set to be fit for their league opener.

Striker Feeney and defender Hazell had picked up knocks in pre-season but are in contention to face Tranmere.

Meanwhile, Rob Purdie and defender Sean Gregan are set to feature in a friendly against Rhyl after recovering from their respective injuries.

Purdie has had pelvic problems whilst Gregan returns from an ankle injury.

Utility player Purdie was signed by previous Latics manager Dave Penney but injured himself in his first training session at the club and has been out for 14 months.

Last month he was placed on the transfer list by manager Paul Dickov, with a year remaining on his current contract.
