Taylor was forced off in the first half of Oldham's friendly against Barrow

Oldham midfielder Chris Taylor has played down a pre-season injury scare after he limped off in the Lactics' friendly against Barrow.

The winger, who suffered a hamstring strain, was disrupted by injury last season managing just 27 league starts.

He told the club website: "I felt a twinge. It feels sore but hopefully it will settle down."

The 23-year-old will miss out on Monday's friendly against Championship side Burnley.

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed they have taken Belgian defender Francois Kompany on a pre-season trial.

Kompany, who is the brother of Manchester City defender Vincent, spent a trial spell at Macclesfield earlier in the year.
