Smith was on loan at Crusaders before joining Salford

Salford have signed St Helens' Matty Smith on a two-year deal following his season-long loan at the Willows.

The 22-year-old half-back, who has scored seven tries in 19 games so far this term, is out of contract at Saints at the end of the season.

The club have also made offers to full-back Luke Patten and forward Andrew Ryan from Canterbury Bulldogs.

But prop Phil Leuluai has not renewed his contract and will join French champions Lezignan.
