McParland has not seen his team win in their last five matches
Notts County boss Ian McParland was left to rue his side's misfortune after seeing them lose 1-0 to Gillingham.
County dominated for long periods at Meadow Lane but could not convert their chances and ended up losing thanks to a second-half Simeon Jackson strike.
McParland told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We had four clear-cut chances in each half - Gillingham for me are going up, but we more than matched them.
"We had momentum, were camped in their half, we were on top until the end."
County have not won any of their last five games, but McParland says their performances will soon turn into victories.
He added: "Effort-wise, work-rate-wise, it was all there.
"We've put a lot of balls into the box, they've cleared a couple off the line - and that's why they're near the top and we're just trying to finish the season.
"It was like a cup tie out there, we definitely got the reaction we wanted from the players after the weekend.
"If they keep putting in those performances, and that effort, we will win more games than we lose between now and the end of the season."
