Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies says he is trying to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Dexter Blackstock.
Davies is keen to add a forward to his squad ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline and last week failed in an attempt to re-sign Marlon Harewood.
"We're looking at several types of targets and making several enquiries," Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"Dexter Blackstock is in amongst that but he is only one of many players we have been looking at for the future."
Blackstock, 22, has not been a regular at Loftus Road under manager Paulo Sousa.
And Davies said it is vital to identify players as soon as possible.
"At this moment we are in negotiations looking at possible targets and doing all we can to prepare for the summer," Davies said.
"What we don't want to do is get to the summer and start to scramble because my experience has taught me that that is the wrong thing to do.
"If we can get ahead of the game we will try do that as best we can."
