Nottingham Forest's on-loan left-back Ryan Bertrand says Reds legend Stuart Pearce is a great role model.
Pearce, who now manages Chelsea's Bertrand at England Under-21 level, made 522 appearances for Forest between 1985 and 1997.
Bertrand told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He has not done too bad over the years and it's brilliant to learn from him.
"He was a good proper left-back, nice and aggressive, and he's brilliant and a good role model to look up to."
Bertrand, 21, has made 10 appearances for England's Under-21s and helped them reach 2011 European Championships.
"My performances have got better and better the more games I have played for the Under-21s," he said.
"He [Stuart Pearce] does help a lot in all aspects of the team and it is an added bonus for me having him playing in my position.
"He always reiterates that an England team should show the passion and pride and you want to go out to win."
