Shorey played on loan at Forest and Fulham last season

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has confirmed he is still interested in bringing Aston Villa left-back Nicky Shorey back to the club.

The 29-year-old England international impressed during a nine-game loan spell at the City Ground last season.

"Nicky was a fans' favourite at this club and if he is available, and there is a possibility of him joining, then we would be interested," Davies said.

"But Nicky is only one of several names we have with regard to that position."

Shorey joined Villa in the summer of 2008 but failed to establish himself as a first-team regular.

He also had a loan spell at Fulham at the end of last season.
