Move to aid Wales career - Gunter

Nottingham Forest full-back Chris Gunter believes his permanent move from Tottenham Hotspur will further enhance his international opportunities.

The Wales international, who has just turned 20, has already been capped 14 times by his country.

Gunter told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It can only be a good thing for me hopefully playing every week as that will help my international claims.

"I don't see it as a step down as I am playing for good club and manager."

Forest paid £1.75m to Spurs for his services after the young defender spent two months on loan at the City Ground last season.

Gunter began his career with Cardiff, where he became the club's youngest ever player to represent the Wales aged just 17, making his debut against New Zealand in May 2007.

The full-back moved to Tottenham for £2m the following January and made his debut in the FA Cup against Reading.
