Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has insisted the club's Wales international defender Chris Gunter is not for sale.

Redknapp's statement comes after reports suggested Nottingham Forest are keen to make his loan deal permanent.

"He's a young player and loan experience is good, but we wouldn't sell him," said Redknapp.

Gunter, 19, joined Spurs from Cardiff for about £3m in January 2008 but has made only three Premier League appearances this season.

He joined Nottingham Forest on loan in March and has impressed at the City Ground.

Newport-born Gunter said in April he had enjoyed the move and he would not rule out a return to the club.

"It's a fantastic club with brilliant people and it couldn't have gone any better," said Gunter, who went on to help Forest maintain their Championship status.

"I'm contracted to Spurs, but if they tell me to go for a season on loan then it's something to consider."
