McGugan was 10 years old when Cole won the Champions League
Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan says the signing of veteran striker Andrew Cole is 'unbelievable'.
The 19-year-old is still coming to terms with the idea that he is sharing a dressing-room with the former England and Manchester United forward.
He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's fantastic really. Rob Earnshaw's a top man and so is Coley."
"He was one of my heroes. There's a lot of things you want to ask him. You've got to make sure the time's right."
While Cole is coming to the end of his long and distinguished career, many Forest fans are hopeful of great things from teenager McGugan following the club's promotion to the Championship last season.
He boasts just over 50 appearances in a Forest shirt, but has marked several of those with eye-catching midfield displays and some stunning goals, including a free-kick which proved to be the winner in the promotion day victory over Yeovil.
He said: "Everyone's buzzing. We just can't wait for the season to start. Pre-season feels like a long time for the players.
"We just want to get on with the first day of the season and have a go at Reading."
