Tyson has been plagued with injuries throughout his Forest career.
Nottingham Forest striker Nathan Tyson will find out the extent of his hamstring injury on Thursday when he gets the results of a scan.
Tyson picked up the injury in the 3-1 pre-season friendly win against Burton last week.
The 26-year-old has been unlucky with injury in his time at Forest, missing large chunks of the past two seasons.
His latest knock seems to be a recurrence of the injury that forced him to miss three weeks in January.
Forest manager Colin Calderwood told BBC Radio Nottingham he is frustrated at the prospect of losing Tyson again: "It's a crying shame that he's had to miss the past week or so because he's been feeling fantastic."
Meanwhile, Calderwood revealed that striker Andrew Cole will be back to full fitness for the start of the season.
Cole is recovering from a calf injury and could be back in time for Saturday's visit to Notts County but Calderwood will wait until Friday before deciding whether to risk him in the local derby.
