Nottingham Forest have protected their investment by signing up teenage midfield star Lewis McGugan on a new, improved long-term contract. The Long Eaton 19-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal, committing himself to the City Ground to 2011.
"There was no hesitation in my mind that I wanted to sign a new contract when Forest offered it to me," he said.
"I can't ask for any more than having the security of a long-term deal behind me as I look to progress my career."
McGugan only made his league debut 13 months ago. But he has now been a Forest first-team regular since last March- during which time he has caught the eye with six goals.
"When I got myself in the side towards the end of last season my aim was to show people that I deserved an opportunity at that level," added McGugan.
"I would like to think I've done that - now I've got three years to really cement my place in the manager's plans and try and help push the club on."
