Nottingham Forest secured victory against Port Vale courtesy of strikes from Junior Agogo and Lewis McGugan. Nathan Tyson set up Agogo with a cross from the left and the striker fired the ball in from 12 yards on 24 minutes.
Agogo turned provider when he set up McGugan with a neat pass from the right of the penalty area and the 19-year-old rifled home impressively.
Paul Harsley, David McGoldrick and Mark Salmon had chances for the visitors but were unable to breach Forest's defence.
