Calderwood eyes 'poetic' last day

Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood says it would be "poetic" if his side go on to clinch automatic promotion.

The Reds beat Hartlepool 1-0 on Saturday and are now just one point behind second-placed Doncaster Rovers.

It means Forest will be promoted if they beat Yeovil in their final game of the season on Saturday and Doncaster fail to win at Cheltenham.

Calderwood told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It would be poetic - the way we've ended the season - if we sneak up."

Calderwood said the Reds must do their job against the Glovers - the side who beat them in last season's play-offs - and would be hoping for a favour from Keith Downing's Robins.

"We've got to win because we've got to be aware that Carlisle - if they win - would go above us both [Forest and Doncaster] if we didn't take advantage. We'll do our job."

And Calderwood said it will not be easy for Doncaster to win away from home at Cheltenham.

"We wish Keith Downing well and we hope that he's ready for action," Calderwood added.

"They've been to Leeds and won... they've got a fairly good record. So a draw - if we win - is good enough."
