Former Coventry City defender Marcus Hall has agreed to join Nottingham Forest on a pay-as-you-play contract.

Forest could not afford to hand the 26-year-old a permanent deal, but manager Paul Hart was keen to secure Hall's services on a match-by-match basis.

Hall, who left Coventry at the end of last season after failing to agree a new contract, has been training with Forest for the past fortnight.

He has also figured in four of their pre-season games.

Hart told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to have Marcus on board. There's no way we can bring him in on a permanent basis, so this is the next best thing.

"He has done well in the games in which he has played and I've no doubts he will prove to be an excellent addition to our squad."
