Norwich City's Matt Gill aims to make Posh impression

Norwich City midfielder Matt Gill is hoping his loan spell at Peterborough will get his career back on track.

The 29-year-old is set for a one-month stint at Posh after making just 13 appearances for the Canaries.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'm looking at this month to try and do as best I can and to help Peterborough.

"If I help them then that's helping myself. All I'm worried about is getting into the team and taking it from there."

The former Exeter captain was brought to Carrow Road ahead of the 2009-10 campaign but made just six starts as City claimed the League One title.

"Over at Norwich the lads have been unbelievable so it's been really tough to break into that side," he said.

It brought back some memories going to the training ground today - that's where I did my apprenticeship

"It's been unbelievable to be a part of it, especially the run last year, but I do need to play and hopefully I'll get that opportunity here."

Gill's switch to London Road sees him return to the club where he started his career, making his debut in a 3-1 defeat by Torquay in April 1998.

"It brought back some memories going to the training ground today. That's where I did my apprenticeship," he continued.

"I still keep in touch with some of the youth team lads and the pros I played with.

"The club's very close to my heart and Baz [director of football Barry Fry] is still here and he gave me my debut."
