Exeter City midfielder Matt Gill has stepped down from his role as captain.

The 27 year-old, who is midway through a two-year contract with the Blue Square Premier club, says he wants to concentrate on his own game.

Gill was sent off late in Exeter's Conference play-off final defeat by Morecambe last May for headbutting Shrimpers' Craig Stanley.

And Grecians manager Paul Tisdale has yet to comment on who might replace the former Peterborough player.
