Wolves midfielder Andrew Surman has become Norwich City boss Paul Lambert's fifth signing of the summer.

The 23-year-old joins for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a three-year deal with the Canaries.

Surman joined Wolves from Southampton for £1.2m 12 months ago and made seven Premier League appearances.

Lambert told the club's website: "I watched him progress with Southampton, he's got a terrific left foot and is very good on the ball."

Lambert has already added midfielders Andrew Crofts and David Fox and defenders Steven Smith and Elliott Ward to his League One title-winning squad.

Surman joins a bulging City midfield, with fellow new boys Fox and Crofts joining current players Darel Russell, Simon Lappin, Anthony McNamee, Matthew Gill, Owain Tudor-Jones, Stephen Hughes, Wes Hoolahan and Korey Smith.

The South African-born Englishman came through the Southampton youth ranks where he scored 15 times in 144 appearances for Southampton.

He experienced loan spells at Walsall and Bournemouth before moving to Molineux in July 2009.

"He will give us balance and like everyone else he will come in and compete for a place," added Lambert.

"He certainly knows the Championship and I'm sure he'll do well for us."

Meanwhile youngster Danny Kelly has signed for League Two Barnet after being released by the Canaries.
